Privacy notice

The short version: we only ask for your email address if you sign up to the newsletter or sign in to Gas Pathway. We use it only for that, and you can leave or ask us to delete it at any time. Last updated 31 October 2026.

Who we are

Gasworx is run by Ryan Mallin and is the "controller" of the information described here, which means we decide how it's used. Contact us at ryan@thegasworx.co.uk.

The newsletter

If you sign up, we collect your email address, and a record of when and where on this site you signed up. We use it to send you the Gasworx newsletter, about once a month, and to send the one email asking you to confirm your address.

Our legal basis is your consent. We never pre-tick a box, and you can withdraw consent at any time. We don't sell your details or use them for anything else.

Your address is stored and the emails are sent by beehiiv, an email newsletter service that acts for us as a "processor". It may process your information outside the UK, under its data processing terms, which include the safeguards UK law requires for transfers. beehiiv may also record whether emails are opened and links are clicked, and it adds tracking tags (UTM codes) to links in the newsletter so we can see which links people use.

How long we keep it: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Unsubscribing

Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, which takes you to a page where you can unsubscribe. You can also email us and we will remove you and, if you ask, delete your record.

Signing in to Gas Pathway

Gas Pathway members sign in with their email address. There are no passwords: we email you a short code, and you type it in. To do this we hold your email address, the account made when you first sign in, and the details of the licence that gives you access: which organisation it belongs to (you, your college or your training centre), its dates and its status. Signing in does not subscribe you to the newsletter.

If you learn through a college or centre, they may give us your email address, or list their email domain on their licence, so that you are let in. Otherwise the address comes from you.

We use this to let in the people who have a licence and to keep the members-only lessons for them, which is part of providing the service you or your centre has licensed. We also use basic technical details, such as your IP address, to keep sign-in secure and to stop misuse. We don't sell your details or use them for anything else.

Your account and licence details are stored by Supabase, and the sign-in code emails are sent through Resend. Both act for us as "processors". Our Supabase project is hosted in Ireland. Resend is based in the United States and processes the sign-in emails there, under standard contractual clauses (with the UK addendum) in its data processing agreement with us, and through its participation in the EU-US and UK extension data privacy frameworks. Supabase may also process limited information elsewhere under its own data processing terms. These terms include the safeguards UK law requires for transfers.

Signing in sets a cookie on your device that keeps you signed in. It is needed for the sign-in to work. It isn't used for advertising or tracking, and signing out removes it.

How long we keep it: while your account or licence is active, and until you ask us to delete it. If you stop being a member, you can email us to have your account removed.

Visiting the site

This site is hosted by Vercel, and its domain name is managed by Cloudflare. Like any website host, they handle your IP address and basic technical details (such as the page you asked for) when you visit, in order to deliver the pages and keep the site secure.

To limit misuse, the newsletter form briefly counts sign-up attempts per IP address. That count is held in memory only and isn't saved.

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. To see which pages are visited and how people find the site, we use Vercel Web Analytics. It doesn't use cookies or store anything on your device, and it doesn't follow you from site to site. It counts page views with the page address, the site that sent you, and your country, browser and device type. The only cookie we set is the one that keeps you signed in, described above. If that changes, we'll update this notice first. Some free tools remember your settings (such as the sound on or off) in your own browser. That stays on your device and isn't sent to us.

If you email us

We use your message and address only to reply. Our email is provided by Apple (iCloud). We delete messages when they're no longer needed.

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Email ryan@thegasworx.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
